Meet a Multicultural Team Leader at Maple

Cultural diversity is essential in the workplace and the community because it allows individuals from different backgrounds to bring their life experiences and skillsets and collaborate with others in unique ways. So this week, we’re getting into another management story and checking out what makes them tick. We’re learning all about their background and how they fit into the Maple services team.

Chloe is a team leader at Maple Services based in Melbourne, Australia.  As an Australian with Italian and Greek heritage, and she comes from a Roman Catholic background.  She has experienced the benefits of having a rich cultural background, and how it has shaped her identity.

Growing up in a family that values food, good company, and cultural traditions, it was natural for her to embrace her Italian heritage.  In Italian culture, food and community play an integral role. Chloe’s family regularly gets together on Sundays for large feasts that extend for hours, and this tradition is observed on most religious and cultural holidays. For example, Christmas, Easter, Carnevale, and Feste Delle Donna are celebrated with elaborate meals and colourful festivals that focus on the sense of community and celebration of culture.

As a Roman Catholic, Chloe and her family observe religious holidays and events, including Christmas, Easter, Advent, and Pentecost. They attend church and have parties with family and friends where guests bring food and gifts. Chloe’s great aunt is an expert cook who prepares elaborate dishes that have been passed down through generations. Chloe and her family also observe days of mourning, such as Good Friday, where they refrain from eating meat to respect the death and sacrifice of Jesus.

Chloe enjoys being part of Italian culture because of the emphasis on togetherness, support, and appreciation for the little things in life. “La Dolce Vita,” the art of living, is a fundamental aspect of Italian culture that focuses on enjoying one’s surroundings, food, company, and life in general.

Chloe finds Roman Catholicism appealing because it is closely intertwined with Italian culture and emphasises inclusivity, forgiveness, and understanding.

Chloe joined Maple Services because of her passion for helping others achieve their goals. She appreciates the sense of community and family dynamic that Maple Services provides, which is rare in the industry. Maple Services also values cultural diversity, and Chloe works with a diverse group of people who teach and embrace each other’s differences.

Australia is a multicultural country, and cultural diversity is essential to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Cultural diversity in the community is important to me because it reflects the reality of Australia being a multicultural nation. Chloe was exposed to different cultures and traditions on a daily basis is a great opportunity to learn and appreciate the uniqueness of each individual’s background. It also helps to break down cultural barriers and promote acceptance and understanding among different groups.
