    Your Questions, Answered

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to ASD support. Some people benefit from a few hours of support each week, while others require more structured, around-the-clock assistance. At Maple, we take the time to understand a person’s goals, strengths, daily routines, communication preferences, sensory needs, and support requirements before recommending any support arrangement. We work closely with participants, families, Support Coordinators, and allied health professionals to determine whether SIL is the right option and ensure any support model is tailored to help the person live as independently and confidently as possible.

Many people with autism thrive on routine, familiarity, and consistency, which is why major changes can feel overwhelming.

Maple takes a person-centred approach to transitions by learning about the individual’s routines, communication style, interests, sensory preferences, and support needs before services begin.

Wherever possible, we build small, consistent support teams and create clear transition plans so participants can develop trust and familiarity over time. Our goal is to make the process feel predictable, comfortable, and supportive for both the participant and their family.

At Maple, we believe great autism support goes beyond simply providing staff. We focus on building genuine relationships, creating opportunities for independence, and helping people feel understood and valued.

Our team delivers NDIS support for autism, community participation, Supported Independent Living (SIL), complex care, and NDIS guidance under one provider, making it easier to access coordinated support. With a strong focus on consistency, fast communication, cultural understanding, and personalised support matching, we work to create support arrangements that feel natural, respectful, and aligned with each person’s goals.

Our Team is comprised of highly experienced Support Workers and Management Staff; all from varying walks of life. We work hard to match you up with the best Support Workers around; those that can speak your language, have the same interests, and have experience working with like-minded people.

Our role is not to do everything for a participant, but to support them in developing the skills, confidence, and routines that help them achieve their goals. Depending on the individual’s needs, this may include building daily living skills, increasing community participation, improving social confidence, learning travel skills, managing routines, or developing greater independence within the home.

We take a strengths-based approach that focuses on what is possible and work alongside participants at a pace that feels right for them, helping them build confidence and take meaningful steps towards greater independence.

Support Coordinators need providers who are responsive, transparent, and capable of delivering consistent outcomes. Maple regularly supports participants with autism who have complex needs, behavioural support requirements, psychosocial disabilities, or higher support needs that other providers may struggle to accommodate.

We work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and Support Coordinators to create sustainable support arrangements while providing clear communication and regular updates throughout the process. Our focus is on making referrals straightforward, reducing administrative burden, and ensuring participants receive the support they need as quickly and safely as possible.

Our Support Workers for Autism have studied and trained diligently to understand and respond to the needs of children and adults with autism. Our team engages in continuing education to hone their skills and keep up with the latest developments in Autism Care.

You work with a highly qualified Autism Specialist in Sydney or across Australia to improve your or your loved one’s life and enhance overall well being.

Our Autism Support Workers are specialists who have targeted expertise to provide assistance for people. Our Support Workers have training and experience in all aspects of Autism Care, from special programmes for young children to occupational supports for adults with autism. We use special tools and technologies to work with children, including those who do not have speech.

Maple has everything you or your loved one needs in Autism Support. What makes us different? Perhaps the most important thing is our vast experience helping people with Autism. Or maybe for you or your loved one, the most critical elements are our training and expertise in Autism Care.

Our 24/7 support and fast turnaround time for referrals ensure you or your loved one receives all needed assistance, whenever it is needed.

Others choose Maple because we are a family-owned business with strong family values. What is more, we promote a strong community spirit amongst our Support Workers, Support Coordinators, and clients.

We tailor our services to meet your or your loved one’s unique needs. We specialise in providing support for people from diverse backgrounds, language groups, and cultures, as well as people with criminal convictions, mental health problems, and complex disability support needs.

Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition stemming from brain differences. It develops through a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. Because people with autism often communicate, learn, and interact differently than neurotypical individuals, daily support can help them build key skills and thrive.

A 2015 survey by the Australian Bureau of Statistics found that about 1 in 150 Australians have Autism. Although people with Autism face many challenges, they can still live the life they choose when they receive the right help. We have abundant experience in helping both children and adults with Autism achieve their goals. Our Autism Care Specialist is ready to meet your needs for outstanding Autism Support.

Yes! Because Autism is a permanent disability, it is covered by the NDIS in most cases, depending on the severity of your or your loved one’s condition. As of 2019, the average NDIS participant with Autism received $32,800 annually.

For children under the age of seven, the amount was $16,700.

At Maple, we can assist you in the process of assessment to see if you or your loved one qualifies for NDIS Autism benefits. If you or your loved one meets the criteria, we have the capacity to provide the services needed.

The NDIS funds several critical services for people with Autism. These include speech and occupational therapy, physiotherapy, personal care support, community access support, nutritional support, skill development, and behavioural support.

NDIS autism funding can also provide sensory toys, holiday camps, or pay for a Support Worker to assist you or your loved one at home. The types and amounts of funding available are determined partly by the level of severity.

For children younger than seven years of age, NDIS funding provides early interventions, takes a family-centred approach, and helps families connect with Autism Services Providers.

At Maple, we can assist you or your loved one with the NDIS Application to receive your or your loved one’s rightful funding.

People diagnosed with Autism may be eligible if their condition significantly impacts their ability to complete everyday tasks or participate in daily life.

You can begin by applying for the NDIS or reviewing your current plan, then working with a provider or Support Coordinator to organise the right services for your needs.

Yes. Level 1 autism is considered a disability because it can affect communication, social interaction, sensory processing, and daily life. While support needs may be lower than other autism levels, many people with Level 1 autism still benefit from tailored supports to help them achieve their goals and live more independently.

Possibly. Level 1 severity includes autism spectrum conditions that need some support but are milder than autism level 2 or level 3. See the difference between the levels of autism here.

Some of these conditions include Asperger syndrome (See Celebrities with Asperger’s Syndrome), childhood autism, atypical autism, and developmental disorders.

If you or your child has level 1 Autism, the NDIS rules will require further assessments to determine eligibility for NDIS funding. Speak to one of our Autism Support Workers for more details on how we can help.

Most people with Autism receive care from family members or others close to them. While an Autism Specialist is engaged in training and ongoing education, many family members need assistance in learning how to care for someone with Autism.

These tips can help you offer the best family Autism Care:

    • Concentrate on empowering them rather than doing things for them.
    • Educate yourself and practice empathy to understand their needs
    • Be prepared to adapt your care as their needs change
    • Tailor your care to their unique set of conditions if they have more than one disability
    • Help them with self-care when needed, but give them space to do it on their own whenever possible
    • Keep records of their reactions to the products they use
    • Ask them to speak slowly and use fewer words if they are having trouble communicating
    • Protect them from all forms of abuse
    • Take care of yourself, too, so you will have the strength and stability to continue helping them
    • Work with an Autism Support Coordinator to ensure they get all the services they need
