NDIS Core Supports to help you build life skills and grow confident in cooking, cleaning, communicating and more.
Life Skills are the things we learn along the way that enable us to function from day to day in a complex world full of challenges, expectations, unseen obstacles, and unavoidable circumstances. People living with disabilities often have different experiences where they may not have had the same exposures, or they may face different obstacles, and in turn, they have a different set of life skills.
Whether you or your loved one experiences a disability, there are ample support services available with funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to ensure you live your life to the fullest.

If you want to do more for yourself, we can help you develop practical skills for everyday life. This could include cooking, shopping, managing your home, making decisions, or organising your daily routine.
Keeping track of appointments, planning meals, managing money, or completing household tasks can take practice. Our Support Workers provide guidance while encouraging you to take an active role and build confidence over time.
Moving towards adulthood can bring new responsibilities and opportunities. We help young people develop practical skills that support greater independence at home, in the community, and as they work towards future goals.
From learning to use public transport to shopping independently or attending activities, we help participants practise the skills they need to navigate their community with greater confidence.
Watching someone you care about become more independent can be an important milestone. We work alongside families and carers to build on existing strengths, encourage new skills, and support participants to do more for themselves.

Whether its a query about the services we provide, or just a general enquiry, we would love to hear from you!

If you or your loved one lives with a disability that has limited your ability to live independently, Maple Community Services is well situated to provide you the support you need and achieve your goals.
Whether you have a well-developed skill-set and need specific training, or you are broadly dependent on others for a whole host of day to day activities, Maple can help you. We will work with you to assess your needs and come up with a plan that addresses any and all specific areas where we can help you live more independently.
Life Skills and Development are covered under NDIS Plans when a person’s inability to perform them are related to their disability. The NDIS covers Core Supports, Capacity Building, and Capital Funding which are different categories of support required by people living with disabilities. Depending on how your disability affects your ability to live independently, the funding may be classified under Core Supports or Capacity Building.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds reasonable and necessary supports for people living with disabilities and can provide you with funding to avail of Maple’s Life Skills and Development services if this is something that will help you to live a happier, healthier life. Depending on your disability and level of impairment and need, Life Skills and Development can be covered by NDIS.
Yes. We can help you practise skills involved in managing everyday life at home, from preparing meals and completing household tasks to planning routines and taking greater responsibility for daily activities.
Absolutely. Life Skills Development can happen wherever the skill is actually needed. Our Support Workers can help participants practise shopping, using public transport, attending appointments, managing money, and navigating different community environments with greater confidence.
Yes. As your confidence and abilities grow, we can adapt the level of assistance you receive. The goal is to build on what you can already do, develop new skills at a comfortable pace, and support greater independence over time.
Life Skills are practical abilities that help NDIS participants manage everyday activities and become more independent. They can include cooking, budgeting, communication, household tasks, planning routines, using transport, and navigating the community.
Daily support generally provides assistance to complete everyday activities. Life Skills Development focuses on helping participants learn how to complete tasks themselves, build confidence, and gradually become more independent where possible.
Independent Living Skills can include preparing meals, grocery shopping, budgeting, cleaning, managing a daily routine, planning appointments, using public transport, making decisions, and completing everyday responsibilities at home and in the community.
Disability is a broad term and encompasses many challenges that people face in manoeuvring through the world. It could be that you have a physical disability, impairing your motor functions, mobility and general daily living skills. Likewise, you could have a cognitive or emotional disability, where you’re unable to appropriately interact with the world presented to you. Or it could be a combination of these.

Developing additional life skills allows you to live more independently and achieve your goals for a fulfilling life. This development is not as simple as buying an assistive device; it takes time, mentoring, motivation, and encouragement to reach your goals. But when you do eventually develop more daily living skills, you will have a toolset that enables you to face almost any obstacle, and move past it.
