Morning routine
Marcus kicks off his first morning at the STA house with his support worker, David, who immediately makes him feel at ease. David knows Marcus enjoys using his iPad in the morning, loves a stretch session in the courtyard, and needs exactly two sugars in his tea. That’s not a service — that’s a relationship.

Community access
On Saturday afternoons, the Parramatta STA crew heads to the local lanes for an inclusive bowling tournament. These aren’t outings — they’re milestones.

Family contact
Chloe’s dad gets a quick check-in call on Friday evening to hear she’s already laughing over dinner with her new housemates. He knows the Maple team has everything handled so he can finally switch off and enjoy his own weekend. That isn’t just a call, that is peace of mind.

Absolutely. STA is funded under your NDIS Core Supports. With Maple, everything is covered so you can just focus on enjoying the experience. Your funding includes the accommodation, all meals, personal care, and the amazing support from our team throughout the day and night. It even covers fun, capacity-building activities in the community! Whether you need a weekend getaway or a few weeks of support, we’ll help you maximise your plan. Have questions about your funding? Let’s talk!
Yes. An STA stay with Maple is the perfect trial run for Supported Independent Living (SIL). It’s a fantastic, low-pressure way to experience living away from home, build your daily life skills, and see how our support works in action. You’ll get practice managing a routine and making your own choices in a safe, supportive space. When you’re ready to make the big move, we’re right here to help you transition seamlessly. Ready to take that step?
Under the NDIS, Short Term Accommodation and Short Term Respite are actually the same thing. The NDIS uses the overarching term Short Term Accommodation, which officially includes respite care, to describe funding for a short stay away from your usual home. This support gives participants the chance to try new activities, meet new people, and build independence in a different environment. It simultaneously provides your family or informal carers with a temporary break from their daily caring duties. Whether you call it STA or respite, the goal is to support everyone’s overall well-being.
NDIS Short Term Accommodation is accommodation and support for a short time away from your usual home. This can be in a private flat, a group home, or another appropriate setting that meets the needs of the individual.
The NDIS fund supports Short Term Accommodation if your usual support system isn’t available. It can also be used in order to acclimate to new circumstances, to meet new people, or to experience different types and levels of support.
At Maple Community Services, we provide fast, flexible Short Term Accommodation tailored to your unique NDIS needs. Whether you prefer in-home respite so you and your primary carer can recharge, or community-based respite to build social connections, we move fast and make things happen. We also offer host family respite to experience fresh environments, and reliable crisis or emergency respite to guarantee your care during unexpected situations. We don’t just provide services, we create opportunities. Let’s make it happen! Call Maple today.
Host family respite is where you stay with a carefully matched host family while your usual carer takes a well-earned break. You’re welcomed into a real home, supported with your daily needs, and given the chance to meet new people and experience a different environment without it feeling unfamiliar or clinical. It’s a great fit if you thrive in a family setting and want support that genuinely feels like home.
In-home respite means a trained Maple support worker comes to you. Your routine stays exactly as it is, you stay in your own space, and your carer gets the break they need, no disruption, no upheaval. It’s one of the most comfortable short-term options we offer, and it’s especially well-suited to people who find change difficult or have complex support needs that are best managed in a familiar environment. Same care, same home, same you.
Disability Short Term Accommodation can have several benefits. It can help someone living with a disability by introducing them to a different perspective. Spending time away from the usual routine, meeting new people, learning new skills, and immersing in a new community for a short period of time can all contribute to increasing their confidence and independence.
Whether you need to take time out from the family home, your caregiver is unavailable for a short time, or you are transitioning to Supported Independent Living, Short Term Accommodation can be a respite for both you and your family.
Yes, the NDIS can fund Short Term Accommodation for up to 14 days if you or your carer need time away from your usual living situation. It can cover personal care, accommodation, food, and activities you and your provider agree on.
If you’re looking for Short Term Accommodation and want to see what we have to offer, get in touch with us; we’d love to connect and make a plan for you.
Short Term Accommodation is available to those whose usual carers need time off, or are unable to work. It is also available for those transitioning between supports or into SIL. Additionally, it is available to those who want time away from their usual home setting to experience new situations and go back to your home with a new mindset. Funding may depend on the specifics of your NDIS Plan.
