From BBQs to Beach Days: Inside Maple’s Day Programs in NSW

Creativity, new skills, and great company… There’s nothing quite like spending a day surrounded by people who make you feel seen, supported, and are down to have fun. At Maple Community Services, that’s exactly what our NDIS Day Programs are all about. Each month, we host a vibrant mix of activities and events designed to inspire confidence and connection. As summer approaches, our calendars are heating up too! Get ready for sizzling BBQs and beach adventures to walking clubs, art classes, cooking sessions, and garden picnics. Every activity brings people together, creating opportunities to learn, laugh, and grow.

What Are Maple’s NDIS Day Programs?

NDIS Day Programs provide structured, meaningful activities to where we learn, socialise, and participate in the community. At Maple, we take this a step further. Our Day Programs in NSW are more than just a daily routine, they’re a chance to explore, express, and grow. Whether you’re learning to cook, exploring local attractions, or joining a group outing, every experience is designed to build confidence and connection.

Each week, participants choose from a range of activities tailored to their interests and goals lead by the amazing Walaa, and supported by our friendly and experienced team.

Inside a Day Program with Maple: Connection in Action

So, what really happens inside a Maple Day Program? Everyday is different, so here’s a look at a standard month.

A typical Tuesday starts with our Walking Club. This is a crowd favourite where participants enjoy the fresh air, stretch their legs, and chat as they explore local parks and walking trails. The smiles are contagious, and the sense of routine helps everyone feel grounded and energised for the day ahead.

Later in the week, it’s time to get hands-on in our Cooking Classes, where participants learn essential life skills like meal planning, budgeting, and food preparation. The laughter, the competition to be the best chef, and the amazing smells that fill the room say it all. This is learning at its best.

Fridays often call for something special, whether it’s a BBQ lunch, bowling, going to the park, or a Beach Day by the water, participants enjoy real-world experiences that encourage teamwork, independence, and self-confidence. And this month, we’re especially excited for our upcoming visit to the Australian Botanic Garden in Mount Annan, where nature, friendship, and mindfulness meet.

“Every activity is a chance to try something new, connect with others, and feel proud of what you’ve achieved.” — Walaa

The activities and schedules change month, to month but you can sign up to our newsletter, or enquire to receive our monthly calendar.

The Power of Community Activities

Our participants tell us time and time again it’s the community moments that make the biggest difference. When we ask them what they love about being a part of Maple, the Day Programs always come up.

Whether it’s the joy of cooking together, the laughter shared at a BBQ, or the calm of a quiet walk in nature, these simple moments build something powerful: confidence, connection, and belonging.

We love watching our community:

  • Build friendships and social confidence
  • Develop communication and teamwork skills
  • Strengthen independence through real-world experiences
  • Feel included in their local community

Every outing and activity is designed with purpose. We take feedback from our community about what activities they like the best, what serves a dual purpose of fun and growth. And most importantly, what is something they will look to each week.
