Able with Maple
What is Able with Maple
Our team at Maple Community Services has noticed an increasing disparity in the availability of inclusive programs for those living with diverse abilities. As societal understanding and appreciation for inclusivity have grown significantly in recent years, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment to advocate for and implement positive change.Â
This observation has deepened our commitment to ensuring that every single one of our participants has access to the support and opportunities they deserve, creating a community where everyone can thrive.
Our Able with Maple initiative is designed to enhance inclusivity and community engagement, establish partnerships, build digital communities, provide education, and organise inspirational events. Collectively, these goals constitute a comprehensive approach to cultivating a society that is more inclusive and empathetic for everyone.
Mission and Values
Maple Services brings a refreshing and innovative approach to the services industries, with a holistic mission of achieving greater equality for all in society. Providing support is the backbone of our purpose, we listen and act in real-time, and we empower our community through equal opportunities. It is our focus on building relationships with each and every one of our clients that sets us apart from the rest.
Empowering individuals of all abilities to pursue their passions is at the heart of Able with Maple. This initiative accentuates the vital importance of cultivating an environment where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to explore and engage in activities that spark their interests and passions.
Ambassador Program
Our ambassador program recognises and shares stories of our determined and resilient athletes so they can continue to push boundaries and inspire others in our community.
- Sarah Walsh: Sarah is an inspiring runner who, despite challenges, and with the support of Maple, has overcome significant obstacles to pursue her love for running. Her dedication and resilience have earned her a spot at this year’s paralympics in Paris, where she will represent both herself and the spirit of her community.
- Adnan Darwiche: Adnan is an emerging talent in athletics, showing promise from an early age despite facing various hurdles. Through participating in Maple events and programs, Adnan has demonstrated his exceptional skills and highlights the power of support and inclusion in propelling athletes forward.
- Layla Sharp: Layla is a standout athlete who has won numerous medals at competitions such as the Sydney Track Classic and other Athletic NSW events. Supported by Maple, Layla is now focusing on advancing her athletic career. Her relentless determination and Maple’s support set her up for continued success and new achievements in track and field.
- Kim Neuerkirchen: Kim is a dedicated frame runner aiming to compete at the Denmark Frame Running Development Camp & World Ability Sport International Cup 7. With encouragement from Maple, she is poised for international success, ready to represent the resilience and talent of the Maple Community on a global scale.
Scholarship Program
Maple’s scholarship program opens up opportunities for continued education within the community services sector in Australia. We often observe the challenges that people with disabilities face when accessing education, but our support extends further by offering opportunities to all those who have dedicated their lives to the industry.
Maple offers three types of scholarships:
- Maple Emerging Talent Scholarship open to any participant or staff member within Maple.Â
- Maple Equality & Inclusion Scholarship for anyone living with a disability to access education. This year’s recipient is Cherie Charles, who will use this opportunity to inspire and elevate businesses to encompass values of equality and purpose.
- Maple Youth Empowerment Scholarship for any Australian aged between 12 and 21. This year’s recipient, Riley Sachse, is taking an advanced course in guitar to highlight the transformative power of music.
Partnerships and Collaborations
We’re honoured to collaborate with organisations such as the Australian Football League (AFL) and Athletics NSW. In alliance with these visionary partners, we are in a position to enhance community health, well-being and inclusivity, while also elevating awareness about the advantages of diversity within our society.Â
Maple Services will collaborate with Athletics NSW on a range of initiatives designed to promote the health and well-being of athletes and participants. These initiatives will include specialised training programs, health workshops, and community engagement events tailored to meet the unique needs of people living with disabilities.
Our partnership with AFL will feature a football tournament spanning 9 different teams, including quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, alongside a range of interactive and inclusive events. These activities include Blind AFL kicking and target practice, as well as 5 a-side Blind Wheelchair events, planned throughout the year.Â
These partnerships highlight our shared commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, offering varied opportunities for participation and engagement in the spirit of fun and competition.
