    Your Questions, Answered

At Maple, we don’t do sterile, clinical environments. We build vibrant, modern SDA spaces where independence actually thrives. We match participants with compatible housemates and a consistent, friendly support team that respects their cultural roots, daily routines, and personal goals. It’s a real, active community—not an institution. You get total peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe and empowered.

Don’t let complex NDIS eligibility requirements slow you down. We move fast to make the application process seamless. Whether you’re a Support Coordinator or a loved one, our complex care specialists collaborate with you from day one. We help gather clinical evidence, coordinate with OTs for Functional Capacity Assessments, and align reports to meet strict SDA criteria. We bypass the typical runaround so your participant can move into their dream home ASAP. Have questions?

We don’t believe in endless waitlists. If you’re ready to live independently, we work with you to find your perfect SDA match immediately. You have a massive say in your home—from choosing your housemates to handpicking support workers who share your hobbies, language, and energy. We build real relationships and celebrate your milestones, keeping you in the driver’s seat. Prove what’s possible and live life on your terms.

We make your job effortless with rapid intakes and transparent communication. When you refer a client to Maple for SDA, you get a dedicated liaison—no generic contact forms or delayed replies. We have the capacity for high-needs and complex care clients that other providers turn away. We actively collaborate, providing professional progress reports and clinical updates to support your NDIS plan reviews, ensuring therapy goals are integrated daily.

Inclusivity and cultural sensitivity are in our DNA. We don’t believe in “one size fits all” support. We specialise in culturally responsive care, matching participants with support workers who speak their native language, understand their heritage, and respect their family’s privacy and dietary rules. Our SDA homes are warm, respectful spaces designed to keep participants connected to their local community. We support the whole family, not just the participants.

There are many factors that the NDIS considers before deciding on your available funding for SDA. The support service needs to be reasonable and necessary to help you achieve your goals, purpose, and aspirations.

The funding of SDA assistance is for participants who have high-level functional impairments or high support needs. And, if your eligible, upon assessment, it is deemed the most appropriate level of support among the available options. Arrange a planning meeting with us and we can talk through what supports you need in and around the home and determine whether this is a support you will benefit from.

During your NDIS planning meeting, you need to explain why SDA is reasonable and necessary to you or your loved one. This requires documentation and evidence from your allied health team.

If you need any advice on how to prepare or ensure you have everything you need to advocate for SDA funding, reach out! Our support team is here to help.

Maple has SDA homes available across Australia. You can explore our current SDA vacancies to find the right accommodation for your needs. Or connect with us online, over the phone for more information. The Maple team is here to listen, guide, and help create a personalised plan to support your goals.

Yes and no. If you qualify, SDA funding covers a certain amount towards your physical “brick and mortar” home. There are four design categories available based on your needs: Improved Livability, Fully Accessible, High Physical Support, and Robust.

Your application determines the right category for your goals. Once approved, Maple Community Services moves fast to help you source a home that meets your needs. Let’s make it happen! Call Maple today.

    • ‘Improved Liveability’ is for people with sensory, intellectual, or cognitive support needs. These homes use features like better lighting, contrasting colours, and easy wayfinding so your home feels clear, calm, and easy to move through.

    • ‘Robust’ is for people who benefit from a strong, safe, low-stimulation environment. These homes use durable materials and thoughtful layouts, including quiet spaces and secure outdoor areas, so you and the people around you stay safe and comfortable.
    • ‘High Physical Support’ is for people with very high physical needs. On top of full accessibility, these homes include features like ceiling hoists, assistive technology, emergency backup power, and room for support workers to help you safely, day and night.
