For Glenn Adam, moving into his new NDIS accommodation with Maple wasn’t just a change of address — it marked a meaningful step forward in his journey toward greater independence and quality of life.
In the lead-up to the move, Glenn was clearly excited. His previous living situation had posed a number of challenges, especially around cleanliness and shared space issues. He had often spoken about wanting to live in a cleaner, more comfortable environment — somewhere he could feel proud of, and somewhere that would also help him save money. This new home represented exactly that.
Choosing the Right NDIS Accomodation
When it came to choosing the right place, Glenn had a few non-negotiables. He wanted easy access to go out and about, and he was determined to avoid repeating a negative experience with a former housemate — affectionately referred to as living with “dirty cats.” With support from Maple, he was able to find a space that aligned with what he needed and wanted.
Glenn was quick to acknowledge how supported he felt throughout the process. Maple helped him with furniture, bedroom storage, and ensured the move was as smooth and comfortable as possible. He extended his thanks to the team, especially the two staff who assisted on moving day, and to his Support Worker Rakesh, who had joined him for an inspection the week before the move. Glenn recalled waking up on moving day feeling excited and ready — a moment that signalled a fresh start.
Making NDIS Accomodation Feel Like Home
Now settled in, Glenn describes his new home as “nice and quiet” and “hygienic,” and he’s genuinely enjoying the change. He speaks warmly of his new neighbour in the granny flat, who he’s gotten along with well. One of the most meaningful outcomes has been reconnecting with his daughter, who now visits more often. Previously, she had stayed away due to discomfort around his old housemate, but this new environment has made it easier for them to spend time together.
Reflecting on what this transition has meant to him, Glenn smiled and said, “I’m the first one to move here, so I’m the boss here.” It was a light-hearted comment, but it spoke volumes about the sense of ownership, pride, and autonomy he’s gained.
The Maple Team Who Makes It Happen
Throughout it all, Glenn remains deeply grateful to those who helped make it happen — from his Caseworker Anji, his Intake Officer Jovina, to the Maple team, to Rakesh and his welcoming neighbour. Together, they helped turn a long-hoped-for change into a real and positive turning point in Glenn’s life.
