Building an Inclusive Future in Sport
Maple Community Services, in collaboration with the AFL, is launching an exciting new initiative to create more inclusive environments at football clubs across Australia. Starting in March in 2025, this initiative will provide clubs with the training, resources, and expert guidance they need to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can fully engage and thrive in Australian Rules Football.

What We're Doing
Maple is committed to equipping clubs with everything they need to foster inclusivity:
Training and Education: We’re offering tailored online training tools and educational resources for club staff and members. These resources are designed to increase awareness and understanding of how to support individuals with disabilities in a sporting environment. More information about these tools will be available soon, so stay tuned!
Open Days: We’ll be organising open days at participating clubs, providing people with disabilities the opportunity to experience the sport in a welcoming and supportive setting. These events will showcase how clubs can be more inclusive and demonstrate the positive impact of such initiatives.
Specialised Equipment: Maple will supply clubs with specialized equipment to ensure that all participants can engage in the sport to the fullest. This includes items like adaptive gear for wheelchair AFL and other necessary modifications to make the sport accessible to everyone.
